ABINGDON DUPLICATE BRIDGE CLUB

OPEN AND HANDICAP PAIRS COMPETITION

This competition now runs from January to December in any one year on designated 'Pairs' evenings - which from 2000/01 are almost always on the 4th Tuesday of the Month. Pairs must now compete on at least 6 of these evenings out the 10 available to qualify. The Pair with the highest average of their best 6 scores wins the OPEN competition. The Pair with the highest average score less their handicap wins the HANDICAP competition. Handicaps are derived from that Pair's scores over the preceding 3 seasons, where possible. If the pair are not a regular partnership, then the handicap is derived from a weighted average of the member's scores as individuals over the preceding calendar year, where possible.
